By accessing and using PaperSwipe ("the Service"), you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and PaperSwipe. We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

2. Description of Service

PaperSwipe is a research paper discovery platform that helps users find and organize academic papers from arXiv.org. The Service includes:

• AI-powered paper recommendations and search
• Paper organization and project management
• PDF preview and storage features
• User accounts and authentication

3. User Accounts

3.1 Account Creation

To use certain features of the Service, you must create an account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete information
• Maintain the security of your account credentials
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
• Be responsible for all activities under your account

3.2 Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or engage in abusive behavior. You may delete your account at any time through your account settings.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of any laws
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers

5. Intellectual Property

5.1 Service Content

The Service, including its design, code, features, and branding, is owned by PaperSwipe and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse engineer any part of the Service.

5.2 Research Papers

All research papers available through the Service are sourced from arXiv.org. Papers are subject to the licenses specified by their authors. PaperSwipe does not claim ownership of any research papers. This product uses the arXiv API but is not endorsed or certified by arXiv.

5.3 User Content

You retain ownership of any content you upload (such as notes or annotations). By using the Service, you grant us a license to store and process your content to provide the Service.

6. Subscription and Payment

6.1 Free and Paid Tiers

PaperSwipe offers both free and paid subscription tiers. Free tier users have access to limited features as described on our pricing page. Paid subscribers ("Plus" tier) have access to additional features.

6.2 Billing

Paid subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annually). You authorize us to charge your payment method for the applicable fees. Prices are subject to change with 30 days notice.

6.3 Cancellation and Refunds

You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. We do not provide refunds for partial billing periods, except as required by law.

Swedish Consumer Rights: Under Swedish consumer protection law (Konsumentköplagen), you have the right to a 14-day withdrawal period for online purchases. Contact us to exercise this right.

7. Privacy and Data Protection

Your use of the Service is subject to our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal data in compliance with GDPR and Swedish law.

8. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability

8.1 Service Availability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

8.2 Content Accuracy

We do not verify the accuracy, completeness, or quality of research papers or AI-generated recommendations. Users are responsible for evaluating content independently.

8.3 Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, PaperSwipe shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Note: Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for fraud, gross negligence, or death/personal injury caused by our negligence, as such limitations may be prohibited by law.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold PaperSwipe harmless from any claims, losses, damages, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or your use of the Service.

10. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

10.1 Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Sweden, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

10.2 Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved through negotiations in good faith. If negotiations fail, disputes shall be resolved by the Swedish courts, with the Stockholm District Court (Stockholms tingsrätt) having exclusive jurisdiction.

EU Consumer Protection: If you are a consumer in the EU, you may also have the right to use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

11. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with third-party services including arXiv.org for research papers. Your use of these third-party services is subject to their respective terms and conditions. We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of third-party services.

12. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes via email or through the Service. Your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
